Write the Damn Book - workshop

So, you want to (finally!) write a book in 2025, but aren’t sure how to get started? Join Vancouver author Alli Vail (Brooklyn Thomas Isn’t Here) and kickstart the writing project that has been lurking in the back of your brain.

In this in-person workshop, we’ll talk about:

  • What’s gets in the way of writing

  • What it takes to get started

  • The importance of clear goals and objectives

  • Myths and truths about publishing

  • Growing a writing community and an audience

  • Pantsing versus plotting

  • Why it’s okay to write a terrible first draft

There will be lots of time for Q&A about writing and publishing and a list of resources to help you on your journey will be provided.

There will be two short writing exercises so bring a pen and paper, or a computer.

This workshop is perfect for people of all writing abilities who are struggling to get words onto paper, don’t understand the publishing industry, have questions about publishing, or want some practical advice or support in order to build new habits and get words on paper.

This workshop is being held at the beautiful and cozy NÜLA Salon & Apothecary.

When: Thursday, January 9, 7 to 9 p.m.

Where: NÜLA Salon & Apothecary, 247 Union Street, Vancouver

Tickets: $10

We will not be able to issue refunds for tickets. Tickets are available online.
